Onomastica is an annual journal devoted to proper names, published by the Committee on Linguistics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Polish Language, Polish Academy of Sciences. It has appeared continuously since 1955. It used to be edited by such eminent Polish linguists as Witold Taszycki, Mieczysław Karaś, Kazimierz Rymut and Aleksandra Cieślikowa. Its editor-in-chief is currently Barbara Czopek-Kopciuch. The journal is internationally renowned and its editors cooperate on a permanent basis with universities abroad and with periodicals of similar profile.

In the article Jak onomaści piszą o onomastyce i o sobie [How onomasticians write about onomastics and about themselves], Onomastica, vol. 50, 2005, pp. 49–68, Katarzyna Skowronek analyses the scholarly discourse in the journal.
The Editors invite Authors to submit original theoretical, data-driven or overview articles, book reviews, notes, and reports concerning proper names in all their aspects and varieties.
